Conversion Basics
You can have thousands of website visitors and still get zero calls. Traffic is not money. Turning visitors into paying customers is. This lesson is about making that happen.
Why Traffic Doesn't Equal Money
Most business owners think: more traffic = more calls. That's not always true.
If your site loads slowly, looks unprofessional, hides your phone number, or doesn't answer the visitor's question right away, they leave. Google calls this a "bounce." High bounce rates also hurt your rankings.
A site with 200 monthly visitors but a 15% response rate makes more money than a site with 2,000 visitors and a 0.5% response rate.
Simple Things That Increase Calls Right Away
1. Make your phone number impossible to miss Put it at the top of every page in large font, and make it clickable on mobile. Many local business sites hide the phone number in the footer. That's a lost call.
2. Lead with the result, not the company name "Get your screen repaired same-day in Tampa" works better than "Welcome to ABC Screens LLC."
3. Show before/after photos Photos build trust fast. A customer who is on the fence will commit when they see real work.
4. Add a simple form Some people won't call. Give them a form: Name, Phone, What do you need? Keep it short.
5. Tell them how fast you respond "We respond within 2 hours" or "Call now for same-day service" gives people a reason to reach out now instead of later.
What Makes Someone Actually Pick Up the Phone
Three things have to line up:
- Trust -- Do they believe you're legit? (reviews, photos, professional site)
- Relevance -- Do they believe you can solve their specific problem?
- Urgency -- Do they feel a reason to call now instead of later?
Once you understand that getting calls is about psychology, you stop trying to make pretty websites and start making useful ones.
