Website vs Landing Pages
Most local business websites are basically digital brochures. They look nice, but they don't rank. Knowing the difference between a pretty website and a page that actually ranks is one of the most useful things you'll learn.
Why Most Websites Don't Rank
A typical business website:
- Home page that talks about company history
- Services page that says "we do lots of things"
- A contact page
Google can't figure out what city you serve, what specific services you offer, or why it should rank you over anyone else.
A website that doesn't clearly answer "what, where, and for who" will not rank well.
What a "Ranking Page" Actually Looks Like
A page built to rank has:
Clear keyword targeting -- The page title, headline, and content all use the exact term you want to rank for. "Pool Screen Repair in Tampa, FL" not just "Our Services."
Location details -- The city or service area is mentioned throughout the page in a natural way. Not spammy, just clear.
Trust signals -- Reviews, before/after photos, license info, years in business. Google looks for proof that you're real and trusted.
One clear call to action -- Click to call, or fill out a form. One goal per page. No distractions.
Fast load time -- Google penalizes slow pages. Simple design often ranks better than fancy design.
Why We Build Multiple Sites
If you only have one website, you only have one shot to show up in Google results. But one search results page can show several listings from the same city.
By building separate pages or sites, each aimed at a specific service or location, you can show up in multiple spots at once.
More spots = more calls. It's that simple.
Phase 2 starts next week: How customers actually search, and how to get in front of them at the right moment.
